My friend and I founded this organization last year to collect clothing for homeless teens in Seattle. Here is a blurb about our donation drive:
YouthCare is a Seattle-based organization that helps homeless teens get off the streets and prepared for life. In the Winter of 2013, YouthCare's Orion Center was about to close their doors. That was until Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pearl Jam had a competition-style fundraiser to both raise awareness about YouthCare, but also to help keep the Orion Center open. At the end, they donated $209,307.76 to YouthCare.
We, Nadja Li and Jordano Mark, then two MIHS Freshman, heard about their competition and knew that we wanted to help. In January of 2014, we founded Teens Helping Teens, our campaign for YouthCare, and raised over $13,000 worth of donations.
We are passionate about helping others, especially those in our community. Visit our "donate" page to find out how you can help.
If you live in the Seattle area, please consider donating to YouthCare. If you don't live in the area, I encourage you to seek other local charities like YouthCare and support your community. Helping the world is a great thing, and helping your community makes it personal. You can check out our website as well as YouthCare's website and like us on Facebook.
